First Sergeant Kevin L. Snyder
Enlisted Bandleader, 287th Army Band

 

First Sergeant Snyder assumed the position of Enlisted Bandleader on March 20, 2004.

His military career began when he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1981. After completion of Basic Training at Fort Dix, New Jersey, he attended the U.S. Army Element School of Music at Little Creek, Virginia. He was assigned to the 24th Infantry Division Band at Fort Stewart, Georgia where he served as a saxophone player.

In 1984, First Sergeant Snyder left the U.S. Army, returned to his home state of Delaware and joined the 287th Army Band, Delaware National Guard. He has served as Section Leader, Group Leader and Administration NCO. He completed his Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Courses in 1995.

He attended Delaware State College where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Music Education in 1988. In 1992 he earned his Masters Degree from West Chester University.

First Sergeant Snyder has been awarded the Army Commendation Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Delaware Distinguished Service Medal and was selected as the Delaware Army National Guard Soldier of the Year for 1995.
